Overview of Course


Sydney College of Makeup Art is proud to offer the SHB30215 – Certificate III in Make-Up (Release 1 Sept 2015). This is a nationally recognised course. The program involves scheduled classroom learning activities, self-paced learning and simulated workplace based training and assessment.  This program provides students with skills and knowledge for working within a professional makeup environment.

This qualification reflects the role of workers in professional makeup industry settings.

Upon the completion of your course you can apply for jobs within the makeup industry as a makeup artist for special occasion makeup, bridal makeup, photography, some TV and some film. You can also apply for jobs on a makeup counter.

Duration and schedule


Sunday 10am – 4pm and Mon and Wed Evenings 6pm – 9pm for 16 weeks. Some practical work experience is required. Full details provided in our course brochure.



Entry requirements


There are no formal entry requirements for this course. However, Sydney college of Makeup Art requires learners to:

  • Be aged 16 years or over
  • Have a strong interest in Makeup
  • Have suitable language, literacy and numeracy skills to read and comprehend learning materials


Units of Competency


The SHB30215 – Certificate III in Make-Up comprises of 15 units of competency. And 9 core units 6 Elective units. Sydney College of Makeup Art have organised these units of competency into relevant clusters relating to shared skills and knowledge or shared work tasks. This results in an efficient delivery of training and assessment and a structure that is very logical for students.

This part time course is delivered within a class room setting through demonstration, detailed instructions and guidance. The classroom is purpose fitted out with a teacher present at all times during the course.

The course relies upon the student’s ability to demonstrate skills, not to just talk about them. You are assessed through written work, observation during the practical classes and the final product. You get to apply the makeup and also to be a model: you sample the experience from both sides.

Flexible affordable  payment plans are available.

Kit: $700

All students are required to purchase a makeup kit for use in class. The Makeup kit consists of professional products from professional brands including MAC Cosmetics, Cinema Secrets, Kryolan, Ben Nye, Ardell and more! The full kit list can be viewed in our course brochure.
